Seattle is home to lots and lots of hotels.  As Tested Travel needed to be pretty close to the convention center during our visit, we selected a hotel that was a bit more inland than some of the trendiest places.   The Residence Inn by Mariott Downtown was a good choice.

Here is Tested Travel's take:

  • Location -- Residence Inn by Mariott Downtown is a very quick walk to the convention center and other hotels in the area.  It is about a 20-minute walk to the harbor.  There is a modest restaurant in the hotel and limited  (non-hotel) dining options in the area.
  • Rooms -- Tested Travel's room was spacious.  One of the reasons we chose a Residence Inn was to have a little extra space.  Our room came with two queen beds, a couch area, and kitchenette. While not luxurious, it was comfortable enough when we wanted to spend some time in the room.
  • Public Areas -- The Residence Inn has a large open area on the main floor.  This area is brightly lit, full of different kinds of seating areas with tables, and several spots to plug in computers and other devices.  This was particularly helpful for the Tested Travelers who needed to get up early and get some work done while the others slept.
  • Dining -- There is a standard bar and restaurant in the Residence Inn.  A hot breakfast is included for guests.

The hotel met our expectations, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the location made getting around town pretty easy.
