Tested Travel lunched at Amélie’s French Bakery & Café in Charlotte, North Caroline.  Fantastique!

The Location:  Located across the street from the Charlotte Convention Center, Amélie’s is conveniently situated for convention goers and downtown meeting and tourist attractions.  Nearby is the NASCAR Hall of Fame and the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. Note they have several Charlotte restaurants and locations in South Carolina and Georgia.

The Ambiance: So.  Incredibly.  Cute.  Amélie’s French Bakery & Café is decorated in a quirky, French cafe style.  With little cafe tables, giant cutouts of Naploean and Marie Antoinette, and lots of cute details for the eye to take in, it is fun and funky. And, you can watch the macaroon-making-magic as glass walls separate the dining area and the kitchen.

The Food: If only a blog post was a scratch-and-sniff!  Walking into Amélie’s one immediately takes in the rich aromas of fresh bread, savory sandwiches, and sweet pastries. The lunch menu consists of French-inspired sandwiches, soups, quiches, and tartines (toasted, open-faced sandwich).  There is a selection of salads that can be augmented with Salmon and chicken. We sampled a spinach asiago tartine.  It was savory, creamy deliciousness.  We also had a seasonal salad (cucumber with tomato) and added Salmon.  Yum!

Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper visit to a French cafe without dessert!  Don’t miss the freshly-made macaroons.  It has us humming  April in Paris!
