On Testsed Travel's short visit to Bern we wanted to be close the the train station and central attractions.  We wanted to find something quaint and a bit different.  We found it!  Hotel National Bern!

Here is Tested Travel's take:

Hotel National Bern is a short four mintue walk from the train station.  Now that is convenient!  In addition, it is only a 10 minute walk to Parliment and 15 mintue walk to old town.

Ambiance and Rooms

Hotel National Bern is super cute!  It is located in an historic building and the hotel spaces are quirky.  The entrance sports a small reception area and a classic, tiny elevator, with a gate that riders close from the inside. The elevator is so small that our party of four with luggage needed to take two trips to ensure people and luggage made it to our rooms.

The rooms (all 45) are charming, unique and generally small.  In some rooms the beds are tucked between exposed beams and bathrooms connected through hidden doors.  What our room lacked in size it made up in ambiance.

Lodging comes with a standard Swiss breakfast -- meats and cheeses, breads and jams.  Perfect! There is also an on-site restaurant that looked fantastic, but we did not have the opportunity to try it out.

The hotel has free transportation passes.  Be sure to ask at the desk!
