Coral Beach

Fantastically beautiful, Coral Beach is quite the site! The "sand" is made from crushed white coral seaweed that makes the water look tropical blue when the sun comes out.  Tested Travel visited on a rainy August day, but if the sun had peeked out we would have gone for a swim!

Located in Claigan, just north of Dunvegan, Coral Beach is a great family walk (about 25 minutes from the carpark).   We walked along a narrow, flat path with green rolling fields on one side and the blue sea on the other.  Past large, hulking, but largely friendly cows, the walk was peaceful.

Along the beach, there are some rock pools that are perfect for searching for interesting creatures. By the beach, there is a small hill which is known as the ‘Ghrobain.’  Just a 2-minute climb to the top affords a great view.  There is a small, offshore island nearby and on very low tides a coral causeway is revealed allowing access to the Island.
