Giddyup Partner!
The Tanque Verde Ranch, located 21 miles east of downtown Tucson, Arizona, is part dude ranch, part spa, and full desert oasis.
As an all-inclusive resort, lots of the fun comes as part of the package — lodging, meals, hikes around the grounds, cookouts around the campfire. And, there are plenty of add ons– time at the spa, horseback rides, trail rides, and much more.
- Lodging — Tested Travel loved the lodging. Primarily consisting of casitas, these lovely rooms had plenty of space for a family to not feel jammed in. Plus patios with views of the beautiful desert and mountains in the distance. Tastefully decorated in high desert hues and Sausalito tiles, they felt homey and authentic.
- Activities — Tested Travel also loved the Ranch’s activities. We took advantage of the horseback riding and riding skills school. We were taught how to mountain bike in the desert (and avoid falling on a cactus!). We hiked. We played by the pool — perfect for a hot, desert evening. We went fishing in a nearby pond. We even played tennis and basketball! If you like horseback riding, be sure to take the morning ride that culminates with a pancake breakfast cooked by cow-pokes high up in the mountains surrounded by Saguaro cacti. A real treat!
- Food — Speaking of food….We also appreciated the food at Tanque Verde–it was abundant, well organized, had lots of variety, and was quite tasty. General dining takes places in a beautiful old lodge with plenty of smaller and shared tables. Of particular note, is the weekly cookout–hot dogs and hamburgers, corn and singing cowpokes under the stars and fun for all.
