There is nothing like a beachfront vacation!

Tested Travel visited Melbourne, Florida (on the Atlantic coast) and specifically looked for a chance to stay right on the beach.  While it was a challenge to find a hotel that was within our price range (moderate), had oceanfront rooms and could accommodate a family of four, we found it:  Radisson Suites Oceanfront.

Ocean Views

Honestly the very, best thing about the Radisson Suites Oceanfront is the location.  Situated right on the beach, with outstanding vistas from all rooms and common areas, the view can’t be beat.

The Room

Traveling with a family of four, it can be a challenge to find a room to accommodate all of us.  The Family Suite at the Radisson has a unique set up — a large bedroom and bunk beds in a hallway.  While not perfect, it worked well for a short stay.  The large bedroom provides privacy and great views.  The bunk beds are a bit on the small side (really meant for people age 10 and under).  There was also a sleeper sofa which could be used as a bed.  The room had a small kitchette.  The best spot was the balcony.  Again, with fantastic, unobstructed views.

Food

Arriving late on our first night, the main restaurant was already closed.  Fortunately, the pool bar, Canova Bar and Grill, was still open!  We ate perfectly respectable burgers and pizza. Canova Bar and Grill is small (maybe 8 tables) and unassuming, but was exactly what we needed after a long trip.  We also ate breakfast in the hotel’s main restaurant, Lena’s Cafe, where they served a typical American buffet breakfast.  Not elaborate, but provided the basics — eggs, bakery goods, meats, pancakes, coffee, juice, etc.  The food was fine. Nothing to get too excited about.  But, after all we were there for the beach not the food!

Amenities

The Radisson Suites Oceanfront has very standard amenities.  Of particular note, the hotel has two laundry rooms and they sell detergent at the front desk.  This came in very handy!  They also have a pool (not heated) and a hot tub.  Located right on the beach, they rent lounge chairs and umbrellas.

While not super fancy and in need of a bit of an update, the Radisson Suites Oceanfront in Melbourne Beach (Florida) delivered on its main claim — oceanfront! Visit the hotel here.
