As the national capital, home to major tourist attractions, and University town, Edinburgh has many, many hotels.
When looking for a hotel, Tested Travel looked for something centrally located that did not cost a fortune and had some additional conveniences. We found that Holyrood ApartHotel ticked all the boxes!
Here is Tested Travel's take:
- Location -- Holyrood ApartHotel is centrally located. On slightly the east side of oldtown Edinburgh, the hotel is quite close to a path that leads up to Arthur's Seat and Palace of Holyroodhouse (the Queen's residence in Edinburgh). It is an easy walk to shops and a 15-minute walk to Edinburgh Castle.
- Rooms -- One of our favorite aspects of the ApartHotel is that we were able to rent a small apartment -- two bedrooms, two bathrooms, with a small kitchenette and family room. This was perfect as we stayed in Edinburgh for a few days and wanted the opportunity to eat some meals "at home." In addition, this suite had a small wsher-dryer. This was perfect for keeping clean and limiting time at the laundromat! The decor was pretty basic and other amenities limited (no restaurant, for example). But what the Holyrood ApartHotel lacks in charm, it makes up in convenience!
- Dining -- As noted above, there is no restaurant at this hotel. But, there are lots of dining options nearby.
